Out of touch

Whew. What a busy couple of weeks it has been. And what a busy couple of weeks I have coming up! I feel like I’m completely out of the loop with all of my online activities. I’m behind on blog posting, blog reading (so, yes, I am neglecting you), and other stuff. It’s been busy.

For one thing, Jillian is walking. A lot. She walks more than she crawls now, so it’s only a matter of time before she starts the Toddler Running Thing and my reflexes will be put to the test. Thankfully, the house is all on one level now, so no step-down in the living room and no stairs that need to be gated off! All I have to do is gate off the kitchen, close the doors to the rest of the rooms in the house and Jillian is pretty safe. It remains to be seen if the house is safe from her, however.

The job search is still going on. I’m saying “no” to a lot more that I otherwise might, but this is because I don’t want to take just any old job and find out two weeks from now that it makes me want to kill myself. Or my boss. Or my co-workers. So I’m holding out for something that interests me in more ways than simply what it pays.

I’m not panicking, which is a nice change from my normal way of going on. We have enough cash to get us through the next couple of months, and that is very helpful knowledge. Of course, if I don’t find something by the first of the year, I will have to get a lot less picky, but for now, I am still looking. I also have some other things up my sleeve that may solve the employment problem nicely. But these ideas are not yet fully-formed, so they will stay up in my sleeve for the time being. Good thing I put deodorant on.

The move went very well. Jillian hung out with my mom while we did all the icky things like sign our names to loan documents for obscene amounts of money. My husband is a certified crazy person, so we got the bulk of the house unpacked in the first weekend. The only boxes that are left hold things like office supplies, and we don’t yet have anyplace to put them, so they can stay like that for now. We do have to empty out the storage unit, and I am not looking forward to that at all.

But we’re moved, and it’s starting to feel like home. I have to schedule carpet cleaning, because the previous owners had dogs and the office, especially, smells dog-tastic. And there are other things that need to be done here and there, but for the most part, we are comfortable. My only problem now is getting Freddie to calm down about all the work that needs to be done. We plan to be here for a number of years, so all the improvements he wants to make can be done over time. We’re not going anywhere.
