Come on DOWN!

Today is a very sad day. It’s the airing date of the last Bob Barker-helmed episode of The Price is Right.

There has never been a time in my life when Bob hasn’t hosted TPIR. He’s been doing it for 35 years and I am not quite that old. So, like many of my age peers, I grew up with Bob telling me what the actual retail price is.

I was never able to watch it every day, what with school and stuff, but Bob was always there for me in the summertime and over school breaks and stuff. That one horrible year when I was sick and not allowed to go in the sun, I got really really good at TPIR.

A few years ago, when I was still in school, I used to watch TPIR while chatting with my friend Ericalynn online. We’d be in our IRC chatroom with a bunch of our friends who couldn’t understand at first why our chats would go like this:

EL: $650!
R: ONE DOLLAR, BOB!
EL: Oh dear, what is SHE wearing?
R: nice hair
EL: HAHA 653 I win!
R: PLINKO!!!

And so on. Good times!

Now it’s ending. So don’t be surprised if the universe feels a little sad today.

Screen time

I watch a lot of TV. Not as much as some, but definitely quite a bit. In the summer, I tend to watch less only because the caliber of summer TV is usually shit. Plus, there’s baseball.

However, Hell’s Kitchen is the one show I adore in the summer. It has all my favorite things: food, swearing, and idiots! There is nothing more fun than watching Gordon Ramsay scream and yell and jump up and down in the kitchen while the contestants flail around and make a mess of things. That is some good TV, right there.
